Join us for a screening of the “Change the Subject” documentary, followed by a panel discussion. This documentary tells the story of a group of college students who challenged Library of Congress use of the phrase “illegal aliens” as a library catalog subject heading to describe works about noncitizens who have entered the United States without authorization.
Their advocacy took them all the way from Dartmouth University’s Baker-Berry Library to the halls of Congress, showing how an instance of campus activism entered the national spotlight, and how a cataloging term became a flashpoint in the immigration debate on Capitol Hill.
Free and open to all. Refreshments will be provided.
