The WashU Web Design System is a living collection of styles, components and web standards to provide brand, visual, UX, and technical alignment of the WashU Web Theme.

This system defines what and why experiences are created, which enables us to build or enhance the web theme in ways that are cohesive, consistent and accessible.

This system is for the internal team that builds the WashU Web Theme, advanced users that build websites using the theme and partners that build sites aligned with the theme.

What’s New

We refined the type scale and defined a new block spacing system to improve appearance and accessibility for site visitors, as well as give WashU Web Theme site creators more choices.

We also improved heading styles:

  • Increased the size differentiation between heading styles, most evident on mobile screens.
  • Added an H6 style.
  • Added optional accent lines below headings, including color options for the H2 heading.
